Woodfree Uncoated Paper (WFU), also referred to as uncoated woodfree paper (UWF) or uncoated fine papers, is produced from wood that has been processed into chemical pulp, effectively removing lignin from the wood fibers. This type of paper may also include 5-25% fillers. Both hardwood and softwood chemical pulps are utilized, and a small amount of mechanical pulp (often from aspen or poplar) may be included. These paper grades undergo calendering to achieve their final form.
