1. Product Overview
Carbonless paper operates based on a micro-encapsulation technology involving two distinct coatings: CB (Coated Back) and CF (Coated Front). These coatings contain dye precursors encapsulated in tiny microcapsules. When mechanical pressure is applied—either through handwriting or impact printing—the capsules in the CB layer rupture, releasing the dye.
This dye reacts with the CF layer of the sheet underneath, resulting in a visible image on the CF side only. The back of each sheet remains clean, as no transfer occurs in reverse. This efficient image duplication process, achieved without the use of carbon film, is the reason this product is known as carbonless paper.
